We are the Student Space Technology Association

We are a student group at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville dedicated to the design, construction, and flight of rockets. We were founded in 2015 with the purpose to pursue challenging projects involving space technology at very little personal cost to students, made possible by departmental support and sponsors.

How to Join

We are open to all actively enrolled students of the University of Tennessee Knoxville. You can join our Vollink page then meet us at the shop for a tour during a Fall or Spring semester! We encourage students to join early in their academic career, and start attending in early Fall, so that they can take full advantage of our Certification Course!

Our workshop is located on the west side of campus at 2233 Volunteer Blvd in Drive Services Building B, you can recognize it with the 'Plumbing Services' sign above the door. Our test site, located on a UT agriculture facility,  consists of a 10kN vertical stand and a 2 kN horizontal stand.

Our equipment includes an X-Winder Filament Winding Machine, Tormach 770MX CNC Mill, Tormach 8L CNC Lathe, 5 Ton Hydraulic Press, two 18" Delta Drill Presses, a combination Press Break and Tube Roller, multiple Prusa i3 3D printers, a delta 3D printer. We can do in-house CNC machining, 3D printing, composite-tube winding, propellant casting, and much more.
