FOUNDED IN 2015...

The SSTA first began as a small rocketry club aimed at equipping our students with the skills needed to enter the modern aerospace industry. As we progressed through the rungs of solid, liquid, and hybrid rocketry our organization grew and began to branch into lunar robotics, two-stage rocketry, regenerative engine capability, high altitude balloons, and cutting-edge hypersonic vehicles. Today, we stand proudly as the largest student-led STEM organization at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with the goal of continuing to push the envelope of collegiate space technology.
