Spring 2026 Conference is Live!
The Hyperion Hybrid (2025) will be participating in the FAR-OUT competition, with 1-2 demonstration launches before then. In previous years, our 10k rocket has competed in the 5,000ft to 15,000ft category, but this year we will be competing in a higher class with a 30k rocket. We also plan on increasing the scope from previous years, to have the rocket fly on a motor built within the team. This will challenge new members to learn machining processes and create better familiarity with hybrid motor design.
The students will design, build, and fly the hybrid rocket entirely from scratch – this is our 4th time doing the 10k/20k Rocket, and over 40% of our current exec board went through this project!
The Hyperion Hybrid team is led by Roman Dial. Roman is a sophomore studying aerospace engineering with a minor in physics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and was a member of the PHOBOS (2024) team.
